Coke studio releases the 2nd episode of season 11

Coke studio launched its 11th season a day before Pakistan general elections on July 24, 2018. Although, the first episode was aired on the 10th of August.

The first episode of coke studio released ten songs. Including a song by transgenders. Coke Studio 11 is entitled to be the first platform which gave the transgender community a chance on national television. Critics are highly appreciating this step of coke studio.

Another song, based on Allama Iqbal’s Shikwa Jawab e Shika, is also getting high appreciation. While some fans highly praised the singers and the composers on presenting Iqbal’s poetry in a new and innovative style. Others criticized the introduction of a new style. They emphasized that the folk genre is better.

Coke studio has released the second episode which includes four new songs. Ali Azmat’s and Abida Parveen’s song ‘Ghoom Charakhra’ is getting  most of the compliments.

Although all four songs are beautiful, the loudest applause is for ‘Ghoom Charakhra’. This is Junoon’s Ali Azmat debut song for coke studio. He sang the Sufi song with an innovative style.

Ali Azmat sang the masterpiece with Abida Parveen, who herself is the queen of Sufi songs.

Another song, Rasha Mama, turned out to be a hit. Folk singer Zar Sanga cast a spell with her beautiful voice. A talented group of young singers also sung with her. Gul Panra and musical band ‘Khamarian’ enchanted the fans with their voices in Rasha Mama.

Another special thing about this episode is the Pakistani-American sister duo’s debut in coke studio. The name of the band is ‘Krewella’. Jehan Yousaf and Yasmin Yousaf, the Krewella Sisters, performed with Rayaz Qadri and Ghulam Ali Qadri.

Famous Punjabi singer Atta Ullah Essa Khelvi sung the fourth song ‘Gadiye’ alongside Israr and many other new singers. Traditional Sufi instruments gave the song a beautiful rhythm.
