Recently, Zoheb Hassan accused ex-husband of Nazia Hassan, Ishtiaq Baig of making a film on the life of late-wife Nazia Hassan. He accused him of making money on her sister’s name.
Hassan took it to social media. He announced that the family will sue anyone who is part of the project, claiming this was Baig’s plan to profit off his sister’s name. However, Ishtiaq Baig claims to have no such project pending. In a response to finger pointing, Baig denies the accusations by Zoheb, saying: “I am too busy at the moment in my business & other engagements.”
He adds: “However if ever plan to make one, I would announce it myself proudly and being her husband nobody can stop me from doing so.”
Baig also had a word to say about the end of his marriage with Nazia Hassan.
Says Baig: “Nazia Hassan was my wife until her sad demise in London. Her death certificate confirms our marital status.”
Nazia Hassan had married Baig in 1995 and had a son, Arez Hassan.
Zoheb previously revealed that a biopic on Nazia is currently in the works. He said that they have finalised a script. And he along with the filmmakers are looking into the casting. However, no further details were shared. Therefore, the question ‘who will play Nazia’ remains unanswered.
Nazia, one of the most notable names in Pakistan’s music history, plummeted into the spotlight with Pakistan Television’s (PTV) programme Sung Sung. Her award-winning single Aap Jaisa Koi, sung at the age of 13 for Indian movie Qurbaani, made her a beloved icon both at home and in South Asia.
People continue to remember her with love and affection. Many television music channels and radio channels also play her songs. Nazia died young, of cancer. The music industry and her fans stayed in shock for a very long time. Her sudden demise broke many hearts.
