‘Ten Billion Tree Tsunami’ Plant for Pakistan compaign launched

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan officially launched “Ten Billion Tree Tsunami” campaign by planting a tree sapling in Haripur on Sunday.

Approximately 1.5 million trees expected to be planted across the country under the daylong campaign. People planted tree saplings under the 10-billion tree tsunami plan.

KP Chief Minister Mahmood Khan accompanied the Prime Minister for the noble cause. PM Khan took it to Twitter to urge the people of Pakistan to take part in the drive.

The 1.5 million saplings planted on Sunday will go under the belt of the 10 billion trees plantation. It is expected to unfold in the next five years of the Pakistan Terheek-e-Insaf government.

The government has made arrangements to provide free of cost samplings through 190 distribution points across the country. The main aim is to rejuvenate the zest of nature and to encourage communities to save the planet.

PM Khan’s adviser on Climate Change, Amin Aslam has stated. The program initiated by ousted Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Green Pakistan Programme (GPP) will assimilate into the billion tree Tsunami project. “Now we have to extend this programme to the whole country,” he added.

Moreover, he emphasized that monitoring of plants was very important for plantation. The government has planted and distributed all over Pakistan on Sunday, Aslam also instructed to include all institutions in this important task.

The campaign’s objective is to motivate the general public to make Pakistan greener. Also to inspire communities, businesses, industrial sector, organizations and the civil society to come together for the cause.

The drive also aims at enlightening people to create a much-needed awareness of the countless benefits of planting trees.

On Thursday, Adviser to the Prime Minister on Climate Change Malik Amin Aslam said that 200 events would be held nationwide during the campaign. He also said that we will showcast events in 18 major cities in all the provinces and AJK.

Many PTI leaders came forward and planted plants to encourage people.
