Asian Games: Pakistan Hockey Team made it to the Semi Finals
INDONESIA: On August 26, 2018, Pakistan Hockey team qualified for the Asian Games’ semifinals. After recording a clear win with 4 goals against Malaysia’s 1.
This being Pakistan’s fourth win in the row. A thirteen ranked team, which was highly unlikely to win, made it to semis without a single setback. Pakistan Hockey team started as an unstoppable giant. Thrashed Thailand, over-threw Oman and kicked–out Kazakhstan in first three matches by a massive combine score of 36 against none.
While it wasn’t easy to goal as the first three games, Pakistan still managed to stay on the high side. Malaysia came out as a difficult team to score against.
Muhammad Irfan netted the first goal in 6th minute of the match by carefully converting a penalty into a goal. However, in exactly after four minutes, Malaysia’s Faiz Helmi Jali used the same strategy, bagging a mighty one for his side.
With a quick scoring from both sides, a high scoring encounter was expected. However, both teams could not make any successful attempt in the next half an hour. Both teams played neck to neck, not ready to give any margin to the opposition.
In the 38th minute, Pakistan’s Muhammad Ajaz Ahmed struck a goal, getting his team a heads up. Without giving Malaysia a break, Pakistan’s Mubashar Ali drained the opposition’s energy with another net-hitter in very next 4 minutes.
Although the victory was clear, Pakistan did not stop the attacking strategy. Just before the final call, Muhammad Ajaz scored another point for his country.
Despite the tough time by Malaysia, Pakistan managed to bag another win. With a total of 12 points, Pakistan now stands on the top of Pool B table.
Despite the defeat, Malaysia stays in the game and has qualified for the semis. Pakistan will play against Bangladesh on Tuesday, August 28. It will be the final group match.
